Chemicals made from trees, not petroleum.
At Leaf Resources we are decarbonising the chemical industry, with chemicals made from trees sourced from FSC certified forests, not petroleum.
Pine Chemicals have been around for centuries but the traditional methods of manufacturing use hexane or plant hormones which leave toxic residues in the environment and the end product.
Our organic extraction technology uses only steam, natural solvents and water.
We transform the less desirable parts of the tree, such as resinous logs and stumps into:
1. Terpenes which is used for flavourings and fragrances
2. Rosin which is used for adhesives like heavy-duty paint and sticky tapes
Our manufacturing process begins by sizing the logs or stumps, these are put through the chipping machine and then screened and transferred to a continuous extractor.
The resin is washed from the wood using the essential oil of the pine tree as the solvent.
The Extractor removes both the Terpenes and the Resin as a liquid. This is transferred to the separation process which distils the terpenes from the rosin, the terpene is sent down one line and turned into a liquid, and the second line is turned to a harder liquid known as Rosin.
No added petrochemicals
No contamination.
And with the leftovers…
The water goes into irrigation.
The wood is sold for other value added products
Our Organic Extraction Technology produces scalable, carbon efficient and cost effective chemicals reducing our demand on fossil fuels.
Join us in creating a fossil free future.
